1929 Packard Model 640 Custom Eight Seven Passenger Sedan.

Exceptional Classic Automobile.

CCCA ( Classic Car Club of America ) Full Classic.

Known Ownership History.

Purchased in autumn of 1928 by Mr. Louis M. Ramsey of Burnt Hills New York. Original purchase price has been estimated at $3450. Mr. Ramsey enjoyed his new Packard for only 13,632 miles. In 1930 as the Great Depression set in throughout the United States; Mr. Ramsey for reasons known only to himself drove his Packard into his garage. He then placed his pride and joy on blocks. There the magnificent machine would wait patiently for the next thirty four years.

In 1964 Mr. Prescott Brown or Alberta Canada was visiting relatives in New York. While in Burnt Hills he heard about the Packard hidden away at the Ramsey Estate. Mr. Brown an antique automobile enthusiast promptly purchased the Packard. With the odometer still showing only 13,632 miles. He and a friend then prepared the Packard to be driven home 2,700 miles to Canada. The local Ballston Spa New York Newspaper wrote a story about the car and the planned trip. In case you are wondering, Yes they completed the journey.

Since 1964 this wonderful Packard has been preserved and cared for by several proud collectors.

Interior preservation work was overseen by Robert E. Turnquist of Hibernia Auto Restoration in New Jersey.

Today the odometer is showing just 18,461 miles.

Powered by the Packard 384 Cubic Inch Straight 8. Packard rated this engine at 106 horsepower.

3 Speed Manual Transmission.

Riding on a 140.5 inch wheelbase, with optional Disc Wheels.

Bijur Chassis Lubrication System.

Thermostatically controlled radiator shutters.

Weighing in at close to 5000 pounds.

Finished on Maroon and Black with Red pinstripe.

Interior is finished in Gray Cloth with brown Carpets.

The linoleum drivers floor is protected by a front carpet.

Interior appointments are finished in German Silver as are exterior door handles.

Doors and windows are trimmed in Burl Walnut.

The Rear doors are decorated with a Colonial Gentleman greeting a Lady.

Front and rear Cigar lighters.

Front and Rear Clocks.

Dome Lamp.

Rear Window Shades.

Jumps Seats.

Rear passenger foot rest.

A tool kit for adjustments is located in the front passenger kick panel.

Front Passenger door panel contains a map compartment.

Vacuum Windshield Wiper.

An air compressor for tire service is attached to the transmission. Access to the air fitting is located under the drivers seat in the front storage compartment.

Trippe  Speed-Lamps.

Wide White Wall Tires.
